They made the march on washington to make sure that this protest was huge and let people know it was important. They did it in washington because they know it would get alot of attention there because of the people that live there, like the president, congress, and a lot of media. Also they did it to gain more freedom, such as being able to vote, going to public places without being discriminated, and more.

The civil rights leaders proposed a march on Washington. They did this because Washington is the capital city. They knew that they would recieve maximum attention if they marched on the capital city. If they did their march anywhere else then they would not get any attention. They also did it so they could be treated equally. They wanted good schooling and to be able to get good jobs. Most of all they wanted civil rights.

The ciivil rights leaders proposed the march on Washington for 7 reasons. First, to ecourage the passage of a civil rights lesgislation. Next, to end segregation in schools. Furthermore, to provide protection to protestors from the police, and to start a public works program for unemployed people. Morever, to stop racial discrimination in the workplace, and to allow workers to have a $2 minimum wage. Lastly, to protest that there should be a self governemnt in Washington, D.C. These were all the reasons for the march on Washington. However, I think the march on Washington was scheduled to be in Washington because it's the capital of the US, and here it would get more attention. The civil rights leaders' idea to put this important march in Washington was a great idea.

Following on what Arjun said, the fact that the leaders of the march protested for so long shows how dedicated they were. They really wanted to prove their point that African Americans deserve the rights that everybody else does.

I must say that the people who protested were very brave. Even though they were fighting for a good cause it would be tough to do such a thing. I would be hesitant to do something like that. However, I am someone who is very proud of my culture and would never let anyone treat me badly because of my race. I think that in the end I would protest. I think that it was a brilliant non violent protest that really helped gain civil rights. It might also have been helping that a lot of white-americans were participating.
